Thank you!

Thank you!

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for the support we have received this week. The staff have really appreciated your comments and have enjoyed reading and responding to the children’s work.

Following Monday’s announcement, Holy Trinity will remain closed for most children until Monday 22nd February 2021.

We will remain open to children of critical workers and vulnerable children. If you are uncertain if your child falls into either category, please follow the link:  Children of critical workers and vulnerable children who can access schools or educational settings - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) Please contact us on Monday using the enquiries@holytrinitycalne.wilts.sch.uk address.

This week has been particularly challenging due to a high proportion of staff absence coupled with an overwhelmingly high number of requests from parents wanting a place for their child.

The staff have been uniformly brilliant in stepping up to tackle this new way of working. We have investigated a number of learning platforms and have found that SeeSaw is the most-child friendly and reliable online application for our school.

Teaching staff are working hard at giving feedback and responding to the children’s work. We know how difficult it will be to support your child within the constraints of your personal situation. It may be that three siblings are sharing one device, your child may be using your mobile phone to respond to home learning, internet connectivity may be an issue or you may be working remotely in your job roles throughout the day (whilst trying to support your child). We recognize that everyone is different and thank you for the work you are doing. I have contacted the Department for Education to secure more digital devices and in addition we are trying to source more devices locally. These are challenging times for us all. Please use best endeavours when supporting your child and let us know if you are finding things difficult.

The Government have announced that Year 1 phonics screening, Year 2 standardisation and Year 6 SATs have been cancelled this year. As a school, we will continue to assess where children are and what they need next in all stages of their learning.

We all look forward to the time when we can all be together again.
